About the Speakers

karina leblanc   Karina LeBlanc

As a recently retired Olympic and professional athlete who has had the honor of being the longest serving soccer player for Canada, playing for nearly 18 years, Karina LeBlanc has had the opportunity to travel the world, meet many different people and experience things that many people don’t have the opportunity to. In this transition, Karina has felt herself not seeking to be understood but seeking to understand. Karina strongly believes that we all have a purpose here on earth and the greatest joys and challenges are faced on our journey to discovering it.

An ambassador, motivational speaker, on-air personality, host and emcee – being true to who she is has led her to some amazing opportunities. This is one of those opportunities and she is excited to share her stories and collectively grow with you towards being the Best Version of Yourselves and finding your WHY.

suzanne kania   Suzanne Kania – Simplified Financial

Suzanne Kania is the President of Simplified Financial, a successful agency that has gone through many dramatic changes in leadership and legacy. John McDermott started the company and Suzanne joined soon after as the support system behind the sales and success.  Starting in 1992 as administrative support, Suzanne then moved into servicing and advising clients with life and investment products. She then chose to specialize in the service of employee benefits and renewals. Through existing clients she made recommendations and gave presentations to expand product knowledge and to further sales of other financial products and services.

Her journey has been one of courage, faith and conviction. Suzanne knew that she could not be all things to all people, so she began to build a team of professionals dedicated to supporting her commitment to John’s legacy of providing the best possible service to their clients. Through her metamorphosis, she discovered she was meant to lead. The sudden succession could have been catastrophic but instead, she and the business are surviving, thriving and growing.  Suzanne has experienced the strength that comes from letting go of fear, resourcing her own inner wisdom and knowing where to go and who to ask for business and personal guidance. She is passionate about making a difference in this industry; one heart at a time. Her unique way of sharing her story is what impacts each person. Suzanne’s message is to inspire courage with a cause – to reaffirm the purpose behind what we do in this industry and to reawaken the commitment to quality in service.

Suzanne will offer us some insight on how to build a successful business and how to balance it with a great life, both inside and outside the office.

joanne taylor   Joanne Taylor – Nidus

Joanne Taylor is the Executive Director of the Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre, a non-government, charitable organization. Joanne has over 40 years’ experience in the non-profit sector.

Joanne will share with us the mandate of the Nidus Resource Centre: to provide education, support and assistance to British Columbians with personal planning. Nidus also operates a Registry for personal planning information and documents.

As advisors, we work with people that have fears and concerns around the health and wellness of aging family members, mental and physical health of their children and spouses and potentially for themselves! Joanne will open the conversation we have with clients to include bringing value around awareness and education on appointing an advocate or representative in these situations. She talks about the four areas we need to consider when thinking about our future: Health and Personal decisions and Financial and Legal Affairs.
