CLU Courses – Description

You are an established life insurance professional with a solid track record. You can deal in most fields of life and health insurance. You're ready to go the next step and provide even more efficient and professional service. Satisfy this need by making the commitment to the Chartered Life Underwriter program.

Students who successfully complete the course subjects, and meet the conditions prescribed by the Chartered Life Underwriters Institute (CLU Institute), will receive a diploma and be conferred the title and designation Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

Please note that the final exam in the Applied Estate Planning course 237 is a proctored paper exam for all candidates. The exam consists of questions requiring brief written responses, including questions that are based on one or more case studies.

Eligibility & Success

Students will qualify to obtain the CLU designation after successfully completing the Advocis seven-course program. The CLU designation no longer requires that students pass either the CFP® Challenge Exam or the Advocis Comprehensive Exam as a prerequisite to earning the CLU designation.

Modular CLU Curriculum

The first four CLU courses in the seven-course curriculum incorporate all the information required for the CFP designation. Students may challenge the CFP exam after these first four courses and may apply for the CLU designation after completing the last three courses.

Students may register directly into the modular CLU stream without taking prior courses in the CFP program.
