The Core Package

  1. The Study Guide consists of 5 modules, which include: Financial & Industry Overview; Accident & Sickness Insurance (Disability Insurance); Group Insurance; Underwriting, Issue and Claims; Compliance; Contracts. The study guide includes multiple-choice questions for self-testing purposes.

  2. Advocis' Certification Exam - Accident & Sickness LLQP
    A two hour exam comprised of 45 multiple-choice questions and administered by Advocis. Students must pass this exam by achieving a grade of at least 60% prior to sitting for the provincial LLQP A&S licensing exam.

Upon successful completion of the Advocis certification exam, students may write the Accident and Sickness LLQP provincial exam to obtain their Accident and Sickness licence.

The Accident and Sickness LLQP is anticipated to require 60 hours of study.

Exams
Students must write their LLQP certification exam within eight months of registering in one of the versions of the LLQP course.
Advocis offers frequent exam sessions in exam centres in major cities across Canada. To write the certification exam, students must call Advocis to book exam dates. Call 416-444-4449 or 1-877-773-6765. All exams are in paper-based format.

Course format
All course material is in paper-based format. There is no computer version of this course.
Assignments – no assignments are required.

To enhance your learning experience, Advocis offers optional products which include a practice exam and classroom seminars to assist you in preparing for the exam.

Course content - Accident & Sickness LLQP
This version of the LLQP program is available for those individuals who are seeking a career in the life insurance industry as agents selling accident and sickness insurance.The A&S LLQP is a course developed based on a comprehensive curriculum set by the provincial regulators.

Participants will:

  • acquire the knowledge and skills to enter the life insurance industry as life insurance agents specializing in selling A&S products;
  • acquire knowledge in the products and services relevant to the current marketplace including individual and group health and disability insurance;
  • acquire knowledge and skills relating to taking applications from prospective clients, supporting the underwriting and issue process and delivering new insurance contracts to clients;
  • learn about the claims process for life insurance and disability claims;
  • be trained in rules and regulations of professional conduct and laws of agency and contract;
  • be trained in provincial life insurance and A&S insurance laws.

Upon Successful Completion

  • Upon successful completion, Advocis will issue an official result letter and a certificate to confirm that the student has met the requirements of the LLQP.
  • Continuing education (CE) credits – upon successful completion, students will receive 30 hours of CE credits.

Provincial licensing
Students must pass the Advocis certification exam to apply to write the provincial licensing exam. The passing mark for this exam is set at 60%. Students must pass the provincial exam within six months that the certificate is issued. They have three attempts to do so. Students who fail to pass the provincial exam within this timeline must wait an additional six months before attempting another rewrite. Subsequent attempts  must be scheduled six months after the previous.
