The Core Package
An intensive Study Guide covering 12 mandatory modules: Financial & Industry Overview; Life Insurance Products; Accident and Sickness Insurance (Disability Insurance); Group Insurance; Underwriting, Issue and Claims; Professional Standards; Common Law, Contracts Law and Life Insurance; Investment Products other than Life Insurance; Fundamentals of Insurance Investments (Segregated Funds); Retirement; Taxation; Needs Analysis (Planning).
Advocis' Certification Exam
A four-hour exam comprised of 140 multiple-choice questions and administered by Advocis. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of completion, which must be presented prior to sitting for the final provincial licensing exam.

Course format
All course material is in paper-based format. There is no computer version of this course.
Assignments: No assignments are required.
Final grade:
- The final grade for the course is based on one final exam. Students need to achieve a minimum of 60% overall to pass this course.
- Students have eight months after enrolling in the course to attempt the LLQP certification exam.
- Those who fail their first attempt will have two more opportunities to write the exam within the eight month period.
- Those who fail all three attempts may purchase an LLQP extension through Member Services.

Exams
Advocis' Certification Exam: A four-hour exam comprised of 140 multiple-choice questions and administered by Advocis. Students must attain a passing mark of at least 60% prior to sitting for the final provincial licensing exam. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of completion.
- Students must write their LLQP certification exam within eight months of registering in one of the versions of the LLQP course. Advocis offers frequent exam sessions in major cities across Canada. To write the certification exam, students must call Advocis directly to book an exam date.

- The final exam is worth 100% overall.

Upon successful completion of the certification exam
Advocis will issue an official result letter and a certificate to confirm that the student has met the requirements of the LLQP.
Provincial licensing
Students must pass the Advocis certification exam to apply to write the provincial licensing exam. The passing mark for this exam is set at 60%. Students must pass the provincial exam within one year from the time the certificate is issued. They have three attempts to do so. Students who fail to pass the provincial exam within this timeline must wait an additional six months before attempting another rewrite. Subsequent attempts must be scheduled six months after the previous.
