NEW REGULATION
Provincial exams in Ontario As of November 1, 2005, students writing an LLQP examination in Ontario will not be allowed to take a break and must sit the four hours straight. This is a decision made by FSCO, and must be strictly adhered to. |
In an effort to maintain the continuing integrity of our Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP), Advocis is initiating changes to the administration of the LLQP certification exam. These changes reflect the requirements set by the provincial regulators for proper identification of those students who proceed to write the provincial exam, following successful completion of the Advocis certification exam.
These administrative changes require that all of the Advocis certification examinations now be supervised.
Consequently, we are prohibited from offering our online examination service and, effective immediately, will no longer do so.
Moving forward, students who present themselves to write the provincial exam must provide a specific certification containing information that will allow the proctor to clearly identify them.
Crucial components of the certificate must be gathered in conjunction with the writing of the Advocis certification exam. Each student must sign a certification form in the presence of the exam supervisor who will witness the signature. At the same time, the student will be required to identify and declare specifically what kind of identification he or she will present to the provincial proctor when appearing for the provincial exam.
The stipulated documentation must include one piece that contains photo identification accompanied by a full legal signature and a second piece bearing a student’s full legal signature.
Once the student completes the Advocis certification exam, the certification form will be forwarded to Advocis’ administration centre, along with the exam. For students who pass the exam, Advocis will add the appropriate written confirmation to the certification form and release it to the provincial examining body or to the student depending on the governing province.
Successful students are required to register to write the provincial exam with their provincial authority within one year of certification. When attending the provincial exam session students will be allowed to take the exam only if the proctor has received an original certificate that contains all of the required information necessary to admit the student to the provincial exam.
While Advocis can no longer offer an “on demand” LLQP certification exam, we are committed to supporting our LLQP candidates and will continue to make every effort to provide frequent and convenient examination opportunities as required by our local participants.

Provincial Exam
In June, 2005, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) issued Bulletin No. L&H-01/05 which announced that FSCO will adopt a new policy on the number of times and frequency candidates will be able to attempt the Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP) examination. The goal of this policy is to help ensure that suitable candidates are entering the industry, promote preparedness for the exam and harmonize Ontario with LLQP examination rewrite policies in other jurisdictions in Canada.
Effective September 1, 2005, students will have three attempts to pass the LLQP provincial exam. This must be done within one year of passing the certification exam. A fourth attempt can only be made after a six month waiting period. Each subsequent attempt at the examination will require a further six month period.
