RHU - Registered Health Underwriter

What is it?

Launched in 1997, with content designed for the Canadian marketplace, the RHU designation has been the only premier living benefits designation in Canada supported by a formal education program.

Over the last several years, The Institute has invested in the overhaul and revision of existing RHU program content in order to ensure that all designations granted and governed by The Institute are fully Institute-owned, Canada-focused and dedicated to improving financial competency standards.

The result is the launch of a new designation that will more effectively meet the needs of Canadian advisors in the highly specialized field of living benefits.

Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS)

The Institute launched the CHS designation on June 1, 2011, a new designation that will more effectively meet the needs of Canadian advisors in the highly specialized field of living benefits.

The CHS will become The Institute’s flagship living benefits designation and, as such, the RHU will no longer be actively promoted by The Institute. Until October 26, 2011, The Institute is offering current RHU designation holders an opportunity to upgrade to the CHS designation.
