Requirement for selling segregated funds in Saskatchewan
The Life Insurance Council of Saskatchewan (ICS) Segregated Fund Marketing Guideline mandates that a licensee shall not act as an agent in the sale of segregated funds unless the licensee has passed an investment funds course approved by Council. For more, please see Advocis’ Regulatory Affairs Bulletin on this topic.
The result of this ICS requirement is that Saskatchewan advisors must have successfully completed an ICS-approved course on segregated funds. If they haven’t, they are no longer eligible to sell segregated funds in Saskatchewan. Advisors may determine their status to sell segregated funds in Saskatchewan by checking the ICS website.
