JON HRELJAC, MANULIFEAs AVP Regional Tax, Retirement & Estate Planning Services, Jon provides estate and trust planning services and tax consultation to advisors, their teams and business partners throughout Ontario, Manitoba, and the Atlantic provinces.  Prior to joining Manulife in 2011, Jon spent ten years in the income tax field at a National accounting firm as well as spending time in industry. He has an extensive background in providing tax consulting and accounting services to individuals and corporations. Jon received a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a specialization in accounting. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and a Trust & Estate Practitioner (TEP).

BARBARA HULME, BARBARA J. HULME PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION As a graduate of University of Western Ontario School of Law, Barbara was called to the bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada (now the Law Society of Ontario) in 1994.  She was working with E. Susan Elliott, at Good Elliott Hawkins, when she was made a judge of the Federal Court of Canada. (Barbara was, in fact, the only lawyer working with Susan Elliott when she was called up to the big leagues, despite claims by others).

Barbara has been a sole practice since 2016, with her office located at 275 Ontario Street.  The focus of her practice is wills and estates where she practices from a seniors’ perspective.

Barbara sits on the board of directors of the Seniors Association Kingston region and the board of the Oasis program. She previously sat on the board of the council on aging.  Barbara writes a monthly column for the vista magazine on legal issues and runs a pro bono legal clinic twice a month at the Seniors Centre.

Barbara grew up in the military, with her dad in the Airforce.  Although Kingston is not Barbara’s hometown, it is her home. She lives here with her wife, Jess, who is also one of her law clerks.

Getting Established

 The getting established program is a formal Mastermind group of advisors new to the business and who are serious about succeeding in their career.
The intentions of the mastermind group is to provide an opportunity for advisors to get together and discuss the business in general and ask questions from peers about how they run their businesses. It will also provide an opportunity to network with peers from other firms.
