Webinar Presenter:  Stephen Cheng, Westcoast Actuaries

We are pleased to partner with Westcoast Actuaries to host Advocis Ottawa’s second webinar on Monday, September 16th from 1 pm to 2 pm with guest speaker Stephen Cheng, senior consulting actuary and the managing director of Westcoast Actuaries.  One CE credit is expected for participating in this webinar.

Individual Pension Plans (IPPs) are a registered defined benefit pension plan established by an employer to provide pension benefits for an employee or business owner after retirement. IPPs provide the platform for a company to make maximum contributions to a registered plan. By maximizing pension contributions, the executive or shareholder will achieve the maximum accumulated registered plan assets for their pension payout after retirement.

With new tax rules for private corporations on passive investment income, IPPs are a valuable tool to extract significant corporate assets into tax-exempt trust arrangements so the corporation’s small business deduction limit will not be adversely affected.

Join us for an information session covering the following:

  • Background on IPPs
  • Comparing an IPP to an RRSP
  • Who the IPP is for: identifying the IPP candidate
  • Incorporating the IPP into tax planning and the overall retirement plan (including estate or succession strategies)
  • Case studies
  • How to implement an IPP

PD Passholders will automatically be registered for this event or sent a registration link.

If you are not a PD passholder, registration is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, payable in advance.  One CE credit is expected for participating in this webinar.

There is also the option of purchasing a PD pass, as we still have Update and two regular PD days left.  Each PD pass also includes this webinar and one more in 2019.

Update will be on Thursday, September 26th and it is a full PD day with 6 CE credits and 6 PDU's (plus the same for the self study).  This year Update includes 3 PDU's in compliance (2 for attending and 1 for the self study)!
