The Advocis Inukshuk Award

The traditional meaning of the inukshuk is “Someone was here” or “You are on the right path,” which is exactly what the Inukshuk Award stands for. The award is given out annually and takes the form of an inukshuk sitting atop a trophy base. The winning chapter receives a trophy to keep and the chapter president will determine how it is shared amongst their chapter.

The Inukshuk Award is given out annually to the chapter with the idea or innovation that the chapter community feels will be most influential to the chapter network as a whole. It could be a technological innovation, a proven membership growth strategy, a best practice, an event or any other project that is innovative or successful.

Regional Leaders of the Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) are responsible for promoting the Inukshuk Competition within their region. Each chapter may apply for nomination by describing their idea or innovation that fulfils key drivers of the association and brings value to members. Chapters interested in consideration for the Inukshuk Award must complete the application form and submit to Chapter Relations by April 15.

From all applications, the CLC nominates up to five chapters that they feel are the most appropriate for this award. With assistance from national staff, the nominated chapters prepare a short presentation outlining their idea and deliver it at the Leadership Conference. During a breakout session, each nominee is assigned to a chapter group which considers strengths and opportunities of their respective nominee and how the innovation could be shared across the association with other chapters. Each breakout group then presents their observations and analysis to all attendees, further highlighting the merits of all nominees. Finally, all attendees at the Leadership Conference vote on their choice and the award is granted to the winning chapter by the CLC.

All submissions are due to Chapter Relations no later than April 15, 2018.
