The September issue of FORUM features a detailed interview with our incoming chair, Abe Toews, CFP, CLU, CH.F.C., CHS. Toews has more than 30 years of experience as an advisor and resides in Regina. He is a chartered financial consultant at Beyond Wealth and works predominantly with business owners on succession planning issues. Below are some thoughts from Toews by way of introduction:

I am honoured to be the incoming chair of this great organization. When I became a member in 1981, I never thought it would evolve into this. Advocis has been a source of pride for me over the years because of the outstanding members I have met from across the country. Advocis leaders and staff have represented us with professionalism, but it has been their education and training that helped me grow as an advisor and business owner.

As we look forward to the next year, it’s time for us professional advisors to stand up and be proud of what we do. No one can do what we do for our clients. The need for good, honest advice has never been greater. We will continue the fight for regulation with representation, title protection, and many other important issues. I believe the outcome of these issues will dictate how we as independent advisors do business for many years to come.
